The server will have a %26quot;friendly%26quot; name and IP address associated with it, but sometimes the ip address is missing. In any case, the way to find where the server is, is to run a traceroute to the server name or IP address to find out where it is physically located.
Here%26#039;s an example. Let%26#039;s say I want to run a traceroute to the Yahoo! mail server. It%26#039;s friendly name is %26quot;mail.yahoo.com%26quot;. Here%26#039;s the traceroute I run from the command prompt in Windows XP. I start by going to Start %26gt;%26gt; Run %26gt;%26gt; Type %26quot;cmd%26quot; %26gt;%26gt; Click OK

As you can see, it is not exact, but it shows you at least an approximate city and state the mail server is located. As it turns out, Yahoo! is located in Sunnyvale, California, which is just 12 miles from San Jose. Not bad!|||A header is the section of an email message that stores info about where the message came from and what servers processed the message.
There%26#039;s a program called EmailTrackerPro that can help. Here%26#039;s a little more info:

Good luck|||In Yahoo Mail, you have the option to view a %26quot;brief%26quot; header or the %26quot;full header.%26quot; You set this option in Yahoo Mail, Options, General Preferences.
I have mine set to %26quot;full headers.%26quot; I do this to hopefully shut down a few scam artists. Abuse centers need this information to track the offender. When I am told I won a million dollars in Nigeria, I select the entire e-mail - including the full header - copy it - then paste it in the message box and e-mail it to abuse centers.
If you are not familiar with this option, check out your options in General Preferences and change it to the other selection. You will see the difference in your next e-mail. Then, you can make a choice.|||,
spam will end when it is no longer profitable. Spammers will see their profits tumble if nobody buys from them (because you don%26#039;t even see the junk emails). This is the easiest way to fight spam, and certainly one of the best.
Complaining About Spam
But you can affect the expenses side of a spammer%26#039;s balance sheet, too. If you complain to the spammer%26#039;s Internet Service Provider (ISP), they will lose their connection and maybe have to pay a fine (depending on the ISP%26#039;s acceptable usage policy).
Since spammers know and fear such reports, they try to hide. That%26#039;s why finding the right ISP is not always easy. Fortunately, there are tools like SpamCop that make reporting spam correctly to the right address easy.
Determining the Source of Spam
How does SpamCop find the right ISP to Every email message consists of two parts, the body and the header. The header can be thought of as the envelope of the message, containing the address of the sender, the recipient, the subject and other information. The body contains the actual text and the attachments.
Some header information usually displayed by your email program includes:
From: - The sender%26#039;s name and email address.
To: - The recipient%26#039;s name and email address.
Date: - The date when the message was sent.
Subject: - The subject line.
