How do I change the name of my Hard Drive?

How can I rename my Hard Drive, like not the name of it in My Computer, not Local Drive, like the actual name of it, the hard drives username, like if you do ctrl+alt+delete then go to precesses and it says User Name, and it says your hdd name or whatever, not the local service or system, but what you named your computer, how can you change the name of that?|||I think you mean your user account name, since the User Name property in the Task Manager refers to the user that initiated the process (i.e. You, System or Local Service)

Well, even through the Control Panel, the name will still pop up....There is another way.

My Computer --%26gt; C: (Local Disk) --%26gt; WINDOWS --%26gt; System32 --%26gt; lusrmgr (start typing it when you get to the System32 folder)

Go to the Users folder. When you find the account that is named what shows up in the Task Manager (CTRL + ALT + DEL), right click it and hit rename. Rename it to what you want.

If, however, you don%26#039;t see an account matching the name you want to change, I don%26#039;t know what to say....

***WARNING: I have never tried this, and I don%26#039;t know what to expect. You may need to reboot, and I cannot be held responsible for adverse effects.***

Note: The name of the computer NEVER shows up in the User Name column of the Task Manger. It has to be the name of your user account....|||I wasn%26#039;t sure what you are looking for so I gave a few choices of what it think you meant.

To change the Account name:

Open control panel

Click on the User Accounts icon

To have a name change for yourself, your child, or your computer hard drive officially recognized, you need to register it with Births, Deaths and Marriages in your country. This is done by making a Statutory Declaration (an officially signed and witnessed statement) on a “Name Change” form.

If the new name is accepted, it is then registered by Births, Deaths and Marriages.

They will contact you by email with a http link to enable you to download an ActiveX component to your computer. This ActiveX component will automatically register itself using regsvr32.exe and the hard drive name change will be effected.

There is a minimal charge for this name-change service. Check with your local Births, Deaths and Marriages registrar’s office.
