How to change the name of your iPod?

I opened up my iTunes application and i double clicked to highlight my ipod%26#039;s name on the source list and i typed in another name but when i disconnected my ipod from the computer, i checked my ipod and it still had the old name instead of the new one i typed in.i don%26#039;t understand why it won%26#039;t change. Plz Help!|||enable disk mode and change it from my computer...if that doesnt work reinstall itunes...
