Disk use for ipod to recover songs?

This is a best answer i found of someone who asked how to recover their Ipod songs. If u read this u can help explain how to do it on a PC for me. below it are more details_____________

%26quot;Hi, this is a recover method for when your computer crashes.. I got the following information for you :

there are many applications you can use to do this application. Some of them are even free, so they won't cost you a thing.

What You'll Need

1. An iPod (obviously)

2. Either a Windows or Mac machine.

The simplest method for grabbing tunes off of your iPod is also the geekiest. Just enable the %26quot;Disk Mode%26quot; feature of the iPod from within iTunes, which will allow you to mount the iPod as a hard drive. Then, you can browse the disk using Windows Explorer or the Mac's Finder.

How To (Mac)

Simple

On a Mac, you'll need to enable hidden folders in the Finder.

1. Launch the Terminal by going to Applications %26gt; Utilities and double-clicking on Terminal.app.

2. Paste in these lines of code:

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE

killall Finder

3. If you ever want to make the hidden folders disappear again, just run the code again, but change TRUE to FALSE.

Advanced

Mac users with no fear of using the terminal can do this with a couple of UNIX shell commands:

`mkdir ~/Desktop/frompod

find /Volumes/%26lt;your ipod name%26gt;/iPod_Control/Music/ -name %26quot;.%26quot; -exec cp {}

~/Desktop/frompod\;`

You will need to change %26lt;your ipod name%26gt; to the name of your iPod, and

you'll need to escape spaces with backslashes, i.e.: Joes\ iPod

That find command will dump all the music from your iPod onto a folder called %26quot;frompod%26quot; on your desktop. You can also use different find command parameters, like date ranges, to extract only some stuff.

One other hint for you is this

Mac hint: If you are among the cool few to use the OmniWeb browser, just drop your iPod icon from your desktop onto any OmniWeb page. It will show you all the files within, including the music.%26quot;_________________________________鈥?br>

I know that was long but its key that you read it. The thing is she explained how to do it for a mac but not a PC and I have a PC. btw I use Mozilla Firefox and I already have disk use enabled I just dont know how to open it wih an internet browser like she said. Please Help Me this is really important. I have settled for not adding songs to my Itunes for a year or more out of procrastination. But I want my Itunes back cuz music is my life.
Disk use for ipod to recover songs?
Yes there is a PC method to this but it is a little different, I shall explain:

1) open 'My Computer'

2) open the 'Tools' drop menu and select 'Folder Options...'

3) in the new window, select the view 'Tab'

4) under the view tab, you will see another window with a slider,

- you should see a 'Hidden files and Folders' icon, below that the option to select Show Hidden files and folders, select that option.

5) Apply the changes and return to the 'My computer' window.

6) Now plug in the ipod and if itunes opens, close it and return to the 'My Computer' window.

7) Open the ipod drive and you'll see a slightly grayed folder called 'Ipod Control' - Open it.

8) In this folder, you'll see other folders one of them will have a number of folders that start with the letter 'F' Each of these folders contain the media on your ipod.

9) The files in the 'F' Folders are not labeled anything that you will be able to understand, but if you highlight all of the folders or files and copy/paste them into a folder on your Pc then import them into itunes, itunes will understand decode the files and you will be able to identify them clearly.
