What is the name of the technology developed so that road use can be priced by computer?

A computer in the surface of the road picks up a signal from your car and automatically charges you for the use of the road. a. How could this technological change contribute to ending bottlenecks and rush hour congestion? b. What are some of the problems that might develop with such a system?
What is the name of the technology developed so that road use can be priced by computer?
it's RFID technology. It could contribute to ending bottlenecks and rush hour congestion by encouraging others to take alternate routes around toll roads, or encourage alternate forms of transport or car pooling. Here are some of the problems:

#1, The number of toll roads may increase with the added ease of newly collected revenues, which could seriously hinder commerce.

#2, It could be used as a means of tracking people - creating a GROSSLY SEVERE privacy and civil rights issue, and a no fault win for those who have prosecutory powers to circumvent many aspects of the legal system where civil liberties are involved - and the burden of proof for alleged legal violations are upon the state.

#3, It could hinder the ability of financially lower income people to travel.

#4, It would increase the cost of automobiles, and put undue pressure upon auto manufacturers to install extranious devices on their cars not directly relating to performance or safety.
